How can we help?

Frequently Asked Questions

Products

How should I use my products?

With daily commitment and enthusiasm!

Our products are designed to be used every day to get the absolute best results. You'll find details of how to use our products on the product label and product page, but here's some more information if you're unsure.

Energising Face Wash

Wet the face with warm water and massage a small amount into the face and neck, avoiding the eyes.

We recommend using our face wash at least once a day at night, as a minimum. You can wash your face twice a day, but this depends on your skin type and isn't necessary for a lot of people.

Follow up with our Exfoliating Face Scrub and/or Original Face Moisturiser.

Exfoliating Face Scrub

Our scrub should be used once or twice a week, but never more than twice a week. After using the Energising Face Wash, wet the face with warm water and massage gently into the face and neck without pulling or rubbing the skin. Rinse thoroughly to remove all of the product before patting the face dry. Follow up with our Original Moisturiser to rehydrate the skin.

Original Face Moisturiser

Replenish your face after washing and/or scrubbing with our Original Moisturiser. We recommend a minimum of once a day, after washing your face at night, but it can be also be used in the morning.

Golden rule: don't go nuts! It's true that you can over moisturise your face and clog your pore.

Do you test on animals?

Never.

Are your products vegan?

Absolutely! We've even been awarded the 'Vegan Approved' trademark from the Vegetarian Society. Not only are our products vegan, but our bottles, jars, labels, boxes, inks and adhesives are also vegan.

How do I store my products?

Store them at room temperature and away from heat, direct sunlight or water. Any one of these things can alter the shelf life of your product and make them less effective. Look after your products, and they’ll look after you.

What makes your products 'for men'?

When products are formulated for men, they typically contain a higher concentration of active ingredients due to the make-up of male skin. They’re also usually fragranced to appeal directly to men. While we haven’t fragranced them specifically for men, they have been formulated with men in mind, however our products have been tested on both sexes to make sure they’re a bloody good choice (and really effective) for anyone that gives them a try.

Do you use microbeads?

No. Not to mention microbeads are illegal in personal care products in the UK.

Are your products dermatologically tested?

All of our products are dermatologically tested and certified ‘kind to skin’. This means a Doctor who loves skin so much they’ve spent years studying it (a dermatologist), has tested it on human skin. They've confirmed it doesn't cause adverse reactions, and is:

Hypoallergenic

Clinically tested and proven

Safe for skin

Kind to skin

What is the shelf life of my products?

If your product is unopened it will last 3 years. For products that are opened:

Energising Face Wash: 1 year

Exfoliating Face Scrub: 6 months

Original Face Moisturiser: 6 months

If in doubt, check the 'date on opening' symbol on your product's label

Do you use natural and organic ingredients?

Our products are full of natural and organic ingredients. They do contain a few synthetic ingredients and they are needed, e.g. to keep the products fresher for longer, so you can enjoy your opened products for longer.

We hate to say the P word (preservatives) but we should probably talk about them, so we’re going to call them ‘Dave’.

Dave seems to have developed a bad reputation recently, but the truth is, our Dave is not bad for you when used in small quantities. Dave keeps your products fresher for longer so you can enjoy them for up to 6 months after they’ve been opened in jars and 12 months in bottles. He’s also paraben free, free from harsh chemicals and has global approval, so he’s a great addition that keeps bacterial, yeast and fungal growth away.

Do you use essential oils?

When it comes to skincare, essential oils seem to have people divided so for from here on out, we’re going to call them ‘Steve’.

Some people love Steve. Some people hate Steve. Well, we don’t mind Steve as long as we only see him in small quantities. Steve makes up less that 1% of our leave on products, and less than 2% of our wash off products.

We all know a Steve, and they’re usually a jack of all trades; an antioxidant, a cleanser, purifier, nourisher and skin conditioner.

Steve also smells nice. Even though we believe fragrance-free is best, we don’t mind adding a small amount of Steve, as long as he’s natural and has properties that are great for your skin. Stevey boy, you’re in the club.

Do you use phthalates, sulphates or parabens?

We can barely pronounce the first one, so no we don’t.

Where do your ingredients come from?

All of our high-quality ingredients are from reputable UK suppliers.

When was my product made?

We only order small batches of products to retain their shelf life for as long as possible and prevent wastage.

All products have been made in 2022.

Are your products suitable for sensitive skin?

Yes!

Not only are our products dermatologically tested, but they've also been certified as 'suitable for sensitive skin'.

If you have sensitive skin, we recommend you patch test each product 48 hours before use.

Are your products made in the UK?

Yes! We work with a team of scientists with extensive experience in natural skincare, to formulate and create our skincare line from the UK. Our ingredients are also from reputable UK suppliers.

Sustainability

How sustainable is Gentlemen's Scrub Club?

Aesop once said, 'good things come in sustainable packages'. Ok, he didn’t say that, we did. But hell yes; we’re really proud of the decisions we’ve made around how we package our products and live sustainability. If we had packaged our products like everyone else, we could have launched our products in less than a year. Instead, it took us nearly 2 years to achieve our ‘good guy’ status:

All of our products are 100% vegan

Our jars, boxes, labels, inks and adhesives are biodegradable and compostable

Out bottles are made from 100% post-consumer recycled plastic

We give 1% of revenue to 1% for the planet to tackle today's most pressing environmental issues

We plant a tree for every order

We've partnered with Ecologi to offset the carbon produced from our workforce; they fund sustainability projects and plant trees around the world on our behalf.

We also aim to be carbon neutral within 24 months of trading!

What is '1% For The Planet'?

We give 1% of our revenue to 1% For the Planet, an international organisation focussed on tackling our most urgent environmental issues. It was founded to prevent greenwashing, certify reputable giving and provide accountability. The certification is given to businesses and individuals that meet their high-bar commitment - donate 1% of annual sales or salary to environmental causes.

It's a network of individuals, businesses and nonprofit organisation around the world, working together. Because when we all work together, 1% adds up.

We'd love you to join the movement. Visit 1% For the Planet to find out how!

How and where do you plant trees?

We've partnered with Ecologi to grow our own forest, reduce carbon pollution and challenge our carbon footprint.

Ecologi plant trees all over the world, but more importantly, they plant them where they're needed. Most of the trees are mangroves, as they've been show to sequester carbon at a rate of 2-4 times greater than mature tropical forests. They are also a key part of coastal eco-systems.

Every month Ecologi plant trees on our behalf, either through our monthly subscription or when a customer places an order. So far we've planted more than 200 trees, and we only launched in March 2022.

Why not join the movement? For less than a coffee a week YOU can grow your own forest, reduce carbon pollution and challenge your carbon footprint. Visit Ecologi to find out how and if you sign up, they'll plant an additional 30 trees in our forest!

What does 'Climate Positive Workforce' mean?

Climate positive workforce means we offset the carbon from our workforce. Every year, we plant 144 trees and offset 10.8 tonnes of CO2 per employee of GSC. This covers the emissions from the employee's professional AND private life.

Our mission is to carbon neutral by 2024.
